Meta's keychain AI ships in December. The price and the battery are unknown

Meta put its AI agent into an object you can clip to your keys. At Connect in Menlo Park, Mark Zuckerberg unveiled Muse Charm, a square gadget roughly the size of an AirPods case that hangs on a keychain or sits in a pocket, and said it ships in December. Meta has not said what it costs, how long it runs on a charge, or whether it needs a phone beside it.

What Meta confirmed

The Charm carries Muse, the personal AI agent Meta launched on 8 September, and you speak to it instead of unlocking a phone. Reports describe a silver body, a front-facing touchscreen of about two inches, thick black bezels and a wrist strap. It runs its own 5G connection and has a microphone on top. It carries no camera, which sets it apart from several rival AI wearables. Zuckerberg also moved the date: Meta had planned the device for 2027 and he pulled it into this year. It was not ready to ship at the announcement.

Three months out from a ship date, that list runs long. Gulf News reports that some outlets have already published a specific price and launch date Meta has not confirmed, and part of the early coverage credited the Charm with two cameras. Treat any spec sheet you read this week as provisional.

One line that does not fit

One line from the presentation does not fit the hardware. Zuckerberg called the Charm the quickest way to talk to Muse and show it what is going on around you. You cannot show anything to a device without a camera. Either the Charm carries a sensor Meta has not described, or the pitch runs ahead of the product.

Where the money comes from

Muse sells access in usage buckets rather than features: Power at $20 a month for 500 million tokens a week, Maximum at $100 a month for three billion. Reports say Meta asks for a payment card even on the free tier. We wrote this morning that the business under the agent is a fee on transactions it completes for you, and earlier in September we looked at the privacy split whose data-free version still carries no date. The Charm is the delivery channel for that agent, sold separately and still without a price.

Meta also showed VR glasses at $1,299 for spring 2027 and camera-free Ray-Ban audio glasses. Of the three, the keychain arrives first, and Meta has said the least about it.

Muse itself is moving fast: the app passed 2.8 million downloads in its first 12 days, by Gulf News's count. Each transaction the agent completes for you carries that fee, so the more places Muse sits, the more often it can charge. An app on a phone competes for attention with everything else on the screen, while a keychain stays in sight all day.
