About the company
ElevenLabs was founded in 2022 by Piotr Dąbkowski and Mati Staniszewski, school friends from Poland who came out of Google and Palantir. The motive was personal: both grew up on films dubbed by a single voice reading every part, and wanted dubbing to stop sounding like that. The company moved well past reading text aloud — it now covers voice cloning, video dubbing and a separate dialogue model. The free tier is usable but requires crediting the service, and voice cloning starts at six dollars.
