About the company
Microsoft launched its assistant as Bing Chat in February 2023 and renamed it Copilot that November. The consumer version runs on OpenAI models and reaches you through Windows, the Edge browser and the Office apps. In 2025 Microsoft folded the separate Copilot Pro subscription into Microsoft 365 Premium, so you now get the assistant as part of the office suite. The free app covers everyday chat, and the paid tiers raise the limits and add Copilot inside your documents.
