About the company
Otter.ai was founded in 2016 by Sam Liang and Yun Fu; Liang had worked on location at Google after selling his startup into it. The service arrived long before the current wave and became many companies’ default for call transcripts: a bot joins Zoom or Meet as its own participant and returns text split by speaker. Its strength is less raw accuracy than what surrounds it — search across every past call and an automatic summary of decisions. The free tier is capped both monthly and per conversation: three hundred minutes, thirty at a time.
