Bitcoin ETF inflows fell 96% in one day

Two sessions tell the whole story of the week so far. On Monday US spot bitcoin ETFs took in $526.6m, driven by a single fund: BlackRock's IBIT pulled $665.2m, its biggest day since October 2025. On Tuesday the same group took $23.2m.

That is a fall of 95.6% in one day. IBIT's own number dropped 95.5%, from $665.2m to $29.9m, which is the same decay rate to within a tenth of a point. The sector did not rotate between funds. It simply stopped.

One fund, both days

The second number is stranger than the first. IBIT took 126% of the sector's net on Monday and 129% on Tuesday, which can only mean the rest of the industry was a net seller on both days. Monday it was Fidelity's FBTC out $83.6m and Grayscale's GBTC out $54.9m. Tuesday it was Bitwise's BITB out $10.3m, with FBTC adding a token $3.6m.

“IBIT alone took more than the entire sector netted, on both days.”

The same money in coins

Translate the money into coins and the two days separate completely. Monday's $526.6m bought roughly 6,442 bitcoin at that session's price, which is 14.3 days of everything miners produce at 450 coins a day. Tuesday's $23.2m bought about 278, which is 0.62 of a single day's issuance. In 24 hours the funds went from absorbing two weeks of new supply to not absorbing one day of it.

What else moved

Ether went the other way on Tuesday, losing $26.1m. ETHA shed $33m against $3.6m into FETH and $3.3m into Grayscale's product. Counting every US crypto ETF together, including solana, Tuesday finished at $5.5m of net outflows, so the bitcoin inflow was not enough to carry the category.

Scale keeps this in proportion. US spot bitcoin ETFs now hold $106.28bn, and IBIT's $66.37bn is 62.4% of that. One fund holds nearly two thirds of the assets and, on these two days, accounted for more than all of the net buying. The concentration we have been tracking all month is not easing.

Monday also brought a filing worth remembering when reading these numbers. BlackRock asked the SEC to register a buffered bitcoin fund that caps the upside in exchange for a floor. A firm that takes $665m in a day is simultaneously building a product for people who find the asset too volatile to hold straight. What settles the week is Wednesday and Thursday: one quiet session is noise, three make a direction.

Informational material, not investment advice. Flow figures cover the US trading sessions of 19 and 20 October 2026, and two days is a reading, not a trend.
