Bitcoin ETF inflows for one day: $32.4m in the morning, $346.9m later
Bitcoin ETF inflows for a single trading day grew about ten times between two updates. Early Farside Investors data for Wednesday, 23 September, showed $32.4 million of net inflows into US spot bitcoin ETFs, and all of it sat in one fund: Morgan Stanley's MSBT. A later version of the same session came in at $346.9 million, the number Coinpaper published. Both travelled as news.
Bitcoin ETF inflows over five sessions, and the total depends on when you looked
- 17 September: $159.5 million
- 18 September: $433 million
- 21 September: $999 million, the largest single day of 2026
- 22 September: $714.7 million
- 23 September: $32.4 million in the early file, $346.9 million after the revision
Add up the first four sessions and you get $2.31 billion. Wednesday morning reports put the five-day streak at $2.34 billion. With the revised Wednesday figure it sits closer to $2.65 billion. Same streak, same five days, a $310 million gap depending on the hour you read it.
A zero in the table does not mean a fund stood still
Fund issuers file their daily creations and redemptions on their own timetable, and trackers publish whatever has landed. IBIT and FBTC showed no movement in the morning file because BlackRock and Fidelity had not filed yet, not because their investors stopped buying.
Read the early version and demand looked like it was falling apart. Read the later one and demand looked steady. We counted this from the other side two weeks ago, when four funds moved money on a Wednesday and eight showed nothing.
The year turned positive, the price turned down
“US spot bitcoin ETF flows for 2026 have turned positive for the first time since April”

Bloomberg puts 2026 net flows at about $320 million in the black. Roughly $4.6 billion has arrived since 19 August, when the US Treasury said it would step up buybacks of long-dated bonds. Bitcoin added about 35% over that stretch and touched $87,395 this week, its highest since January. It trades near $84,200 on Thursday afternoon in Europe.
Some of that climb came from traders who had bet against bitcoin. Exchanges closed nearly $919 million of short positions during the surge, so part of the buying was people cutting losses rather than new money picking the asset.
What the cushion looks like now
Estimates in the reporting put the average ETF holder's cost basis near $81,700 to $82,000. At $84,200 the typical holder sits a few per cent ahead. A $2,500 move takes that away.
Some desks will quote this streak as five days and others as four, depending on which snapshot they opened. Check the timestamp on a flow number before you trust the trend built on it.
