NEAR took $1.3m of inflows, or 0.27% of a day's volume
A $1.3m spot inflow into NEAR Protocol is doing the rounds this morning, reported as a 130% jump on the eight-hour window. Before repeating the number we put it against the market it arrived in, and the proportion is the story.
NEAR traded at $4.476 when we checked on 27 October, with a market capitalisation of $5.86bn and 24-hour volume of $486m across venues. Against that, $1.3m is 0.27% of a single day's trading and 0.022% of the token's value. On Binance alone the pair turned over $89m in the same day. An inflow of this size moves nothing by itself, and a 130% rise on a number that small is arithmetic rather than demand.
0.27% of a day, 0.022% of the asset
The price action underneath is more interesting than the flow. We recomputed the moving averages on daily closes and found the 50-day at $4.358, the 100-day at $3.082 and the 200-day at $2.461. NEAR sits 2.7% above the first, 45% above the second and 82% above the third, which is the shape of an asset that has run hard and is now resting on its nearest support rather than breaking down. As an altcoin that is a comfortable place to sit; it is also the place where a thin tape produces loud headlines.
“NEAR touched $4.389 today and bounced right on the 50-day moving average, which sits near $4.30. This line has supported the price through the entire climb.”

The run is real and recent. Across the last 90 days the low was $1.588 on 18 August and the high $5.896 on 11 October. From that low NEAR is up 182%; from the high it is down 24.1%. Our fourteen-day RSI came out at 46.0, which is the middle of the range and says nothing in either direction.
A quiet tape makes any flow look like a signal
That combination explains why a tiny inflow gets written up at all. Volume has thinned since the October peak, daily candles have narrowed, and in a quiet tape any flow reading looks like a signal. It is the same trap we walked through with the gold miners RSI last week: the indicator is accurate and the conclusion drawn from it is not.
What would actually matter is a reclaim of the short-term average near $4.73, then $5.00 and $5.40 where sellers appeared on the way up. Until one of those breaks, the 50-day at $4.358 is the only level doing any work, and it is 2.7% below spot. Everything else is a $1.3m rounding error on a $5.86bn asset.
This piece is informational, not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any asset. Prices, volumes and moving averages are our own measurements taken on 27 October 2026 from Binance daily closes and CoinGecko, so they differ slightly from figures computed on other venues.
