Coinsbee says USDT on Tron is now the most used onchain payment option on its platform, at 16.23% of payments this year against 9.92% last year. Both halves of that are worth holding at once: the share grew 63.6%, and 83.77% of payments on the platform are still something else.

The ratio inside the release

The interesting number is one the release prints without drawing a conclusion from it. TRC-20 accounted for 44.6% of the platform's USDT payments over 90 days and 64.5% of its USDT turnover. Work that through and the average Tron payment is 2.26 times the size of the average USDT payment on every other chain combined. The chain everyone describes as the cheap rail for small transfers is carrying the large tickets here, not the small ones.

Two figures the release gives for the same 90 days to 1 September: USDT on Tron logged about 1.8 times as many payments as bitcoin and 1.9 times as many as ether. That window is not the same as the year-to-date share, so we are not multiplying the two together to produce an implied ranking. Each says what it says.

The numbers, kept apart:

  • 16.23% of Coinsbee payments in 2026 so far, against 9.92% in 2025.
  • 44.6% of the platform's USDT payments, but 64.5% of its USDT turnover.
  • $94bn of USDT sits on Tron, which is 51.3% of all USDT in existence.

Scale is the part that is not in dispute. Tron reports 405 million accounts and 15 billion transactions, with $28bn locked on the network. The figure that matters more for payments is the $94bn of USDT issued there, which against the $183.3bn of USDT outstanding means slightly over half of the world's largest stablecoin already lives on this one chain. A payment platform finding Tron at the top is a consequence of that, not a discovery.

Stablecoins become more useful when people can use them for products.

Read the release for what it is

Read the release for what it is. It is a vendor announcement, published the same day as a 2% discount on purchases made with USDT on Tron, running to 5 October under a promo code. The data is Coinsbee's own, unaudited, and describes one merchant rather than the market. We hit the same limit in the other direction last week when the P2P premium on USDT to euro measured 2.59%: a real number from one venue is still one venue.

What would turn a platform fact into a market fact is the same thing it always is. Settlement share across many merchants, fees paid rather than fees advertised, and the size distribution behind the average. Until then the honest summary is that half of all USDT sits on Tron, and on at least one gift-card platform the people spending it there are spending more per transaction than anyone else. Our source for the underlying figures is the company's release, and our venue concentration work is where we keep the wider picture.

Informational material, not investment advice. The payment shares are Coinsbee's own unaudited platform data; the ratios derived from them and the USDT supply comparison are ours, taken on 21 September 2026.
