Bitcoin ran $3,211 in a day and gave all of it back
Bitcoin 48 hours ago opened at $77,122 and trades at $77,275, a gain of 0.20%. Between those two numbers it ran $3,211 from the Monday low to the Monday high and gave every dollar of it back.

What the tape did
The shape of it, on Binance spot:
- The low was $76,389 at midnight UTC on Monday and the high $79,600 at 20:00 UTC the same day, a range of 4.20%.
- Bitcoin now sits 2.92% below that high and 1.16% above that low, at $77,275.
- Binance spot turned over 23,694 BTC across the two days, against a median hour of 441.
The range moved further than the close did. Two days ago we measured a 1.97% band and put it in the 18th percentile of the last 952 rolling windows. The same measurement now reads 4.20% and sits in the 63rd percentile, against a median of 3.46%. Compression released inside 24 hours and produced no direction. Open interest in the Binance perpetual fell 1.8% to 104,436 BTC over the same stretch, and the funding rate dropped from 0.0080% to 0.0036%, so traders cut exposure while the price was travelling.
Volume peaked at 1,305 BTC in the 14:00 hour on Monday with price at $78,521, three times the median hour, then 1,141 at 13:00 and 1,091 at 02:00. The first two sit inside the American session on the day the Senate ethics deal landed, and the third sits two hours after the revised bill circulated overnight.
Bitcoin touched $79,600 at 20:00 UTC and lost 2.92% of it by this morning, which is the tape declining to hold a level set on a headline. Across bitcoin 48 hours of trading the net result is 153 dollars. The 30-day picture stays intact at plus 23.1%, the seven-day reading is minus 1.3%, and dominance sits at 58.4% of a $1.55 trillion market.
What comes next
The Senate votes at 18:15 UTC today, the Federal Reserve decides 24 hours later, and traders price enactment this year at 18.5% after cutting it from 30.5% overnight. Our briefing on the vote carries the seat arithmetic behind that number.
A $3,211 swing arrived and unwound inside a day, so a position sized for the move meets the reversal at the same size. That is the precedent worth carrying into this session.
